Description
Lucerne is a famous tourist city, located in the north-central part of Switzerland, part of the area of the country which speaks German. The city is a part of the Canton of Lucerne, which surprisingly is part of the district having the same name. The city is famous since it is located on the shore of Lake Lucerne, and is also the starting point for the mountain peaks located in the Alps of Mount Pilatus and Mount Rigi. Inside the city, there is a beautiful bridge called the Chapel Bridge, located across the Reuss River. The bridge is a famous landmark for the city.
One of the famous landmarks of the city is the Church of St. Leodegar, with its famous twin spires, named after the patron saint of the city. The current structure of the church was erected in the year 1633, with the towers surviving from a previous time. This church is popularly called as Hofkirche (in German).
