Artist's Description
A view of the houses in Stirling town (including the Old Stirling Bridge) as visible from Stirling Castle. Even though the water of Stirling River is not visible, the location is the place where there was a famous battle, the battle of Stirling Bridge - this was the battle where a Scottish army of irregulars under William Wallace defeated a regular English army.
