Description
Egypt has many sites that showcase the magnificent history of ancient Egypt, from many millenia ago to the later stage when the country was ruled by pharaohs who were of Greek origin, called the Ptolemaic rulers. So, there are the Pyramids, which represent a very ancient rule, and there are numerous temples, representing different time periods. Kom Ombo is a temple from the Ptolemaic time, but is more unusual since it is a double temple, dedicated to two sets of gods, Sobek and Horus. With lighting at night, the pillars get highlighted in an orange-yellow light, and look beautiful. The pillars are still standing, although the roof has fallen down in parts.
